How Can severe Bursitis In The Thigh Be Treated?

My elderly mother has been diagnosed with bursitis in her left thigh after what has been a very painful and stressful week for both of us, she was admitted to hospital where she is now being treated. Yesterday I started with very similar symptoms in my left groin area and wondered if this condition is contagious?

Hi, thank you for trusting Healthcare Magic.

I understand with your concerns, but do not worry too much about this. In cases where bursitis is caused by infection, there may be a risk of transmission. However, most bursitis triggered by injuries to the muscles and joints or rheumatoid arthritis.

As long as your mother does not show symptoms of infection such as fever, severe pain, swelling in the affected area, then your complaint might be caused by something else.

Try to take some rest so you are strong enough to take care of your mother. If it feels very painful, I recommend you to taking acetaminophen 500 mg or Ibuprofen 200 mg (unless you are allergic to any of the these medications).

If within two days the complaint is not reduced, you should consult your nearest doctor.

Hope I answer you question and feel free to ask to Healthcare Magic.
